The number of middle aged men that are obtaining prescriptions for Testosterone replacement therapies have been increasing at a steady pace as men are seeking ways to help boost their libidos, and feel younger again by way of testosterone replacement therapy.
Testosterone replacement therapy is used to treat a medical condition known as Hypogonadism which is a condition characterized by low amounts of the male hormone testosterone. The therapy is designed to reduce body fat, build muscle, and improve the sexual integrity of patients engaging in the therapy.
A recent study conducted by a large health insurance provider revealed that the number of men being prescribed medications to increase their hormone levels has nearly tripled since the therapy was initially introduced in 2001. The treatment was originally designed for men that have low testosterone levels and are seeking ways to boost low T levels with minimal side effects. The study showed that the fastest growing group of users of Testosterone hormone therapy are males in their mid to late 40s.
Testosterone therapy is recommended as a treatment only in men with low testosterone levels which can only be determined through a blood test. As the therapy has become more widely accepted as well as being readily available, more men are coming forward in an effort to help improve their quality of life and feel good about themselves again.
